III Family Businesses Conference, organized by the Young Entrepreneurs Association ANJE
The III Family Businesses Conference took place on Tuesday, July 26, at the Intercontinental Hotel in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. This event was organized by the Young Entrepreneurs Association ANJE, and brought together members of the main enterprising families as well as experts, to discuss the main challenges that families face during the change processes, power transition and generational replacement.
Albert Bosch, ally of Exaudi Family Business Consulting, was in charge of the event’s kick off, with his conference Facing Fears, in which he connects the audience with the main values that define an entrepreneur, through his own expedition related experiences. An invitation to reflect on the need to lead change instead of resisting it; to cultivate inspiration, passion and work to maintain the entrepreneurial spirit of the generations that get involved in the family project.
The III Conference of Family Businesses was the framework for three panels with local entrepreneurs with outstanding trajectory, who shared their experiences on the most common challenges and fears that family businesses face. These panels were: The Handover of Power: Managing the transformation as company and as family; Grow, Sell or Die: The regeneration and reinvention of the family businesses; and Company First or Family First: Defining the game rules within the enterprising family.
Lisa Morel, partner for the Dominican Republic and consultant of Exaudi Family Business Consulting, moderated the panel Grow, Sell or Die: The regeneration and reinvention of the family businesses; along with entrepreneurs Alejandro Farach, President of Plastifar, and Carlos Iglesias, General Director of Ferreteria Bellon. Mr. Farach and Mr. Iglesias reflected on the elements that defined the success of their companies during the generational replacement process, such as: an aligned vision of the family business, cultivation of the entrepreneurial spirit, implementation of the governance with the guidance of external experts, and willingness to lead change instead of resisting it.
Exaudi Family Business Consulting sponsored the III Family Businesses Conference organized by ANJE, the most important forum for family businesses in the Dominican Republic, following its commitment with the creation and dissemination of knowledge about enterprising families in the Region.
